Anne-Marie Baird

President | Ireland

Anne-Marie Baird is the current President of Lung Cancer Europe (LuCE) and is a Senior Research Fellow in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. As President, Anne-Marie heads the LuCE Executive Board and works to achieve the organisation’s strategic objectives.

She has a strong personal connection to lung cancer, as her Grandmother and Aunt both died from the disease. Anne-Marie has been heavily involved in lung cancer advocacy since 2012, when she became active in the ‘lung cancer social media’ (#LCSM) community on Twitter.

In 2017, she became involved in LuCE, first as an ambassador and was then elected to the board in 2018. This was followed in 2020 as her election as President.

Anne-Marie serves as working group chair for the LuCE Report, however she is active across all of the organisation’s working groups and activities. She is active in many patient councils, steering committees and advisory boards; and serves as the LuCE representative on the European Cancer Organisation Patient Advisory Committee. She is also one of the founding members of the Irish Lung Cancer Community (ILCC), the first lung cancer specific advocacy group in Ireland.

In addition to working in the advocacy space, Anne-Marie is an academic (BSc (Hons), PG Dip (Statistics), PhD) and an experienced cancer molecular biologist with research interests in inflammation and immune mediators, the metastatic cascade, drug resistance and disease biomarkers.

She speaks English (Native), and Gaeilge (Basic).
