The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer released its first-ever Language Guide to promote best practices in all written and spoken language for submitted abstracts and presentations at its conferences, as well as for all members of the lung cancer community. The guide is available for download here.
The Language Guide helps address the stigmatization that patients with lung cancer often face from the public and from within the lung cancer community. Sadly, those dealing with lung cancer continually encounter unintentionally hurtful statements and often must repeatedly explain and defend themselves when discussing their disease.
