How Common is Lung Cancer

Globally, lung cancer is the most common cause of death related to cancer in both men and women. One reason for this is that people with early-stage lung cancer do not experience any symptoms.

As with all cancers, if a lung cancer is found at an early stage it is more likely that it can be treated effectively. For this reason, if you have any persistent symptoms that may be caused by lung cancer it is important that you get them checked by a medical professional as soon as possible, who will be able to do tests. These may include:

Examining your medical records
A physical examination
Blood tests
Diagnostic imaging tests such as a CT (computed tomography) or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan
Tissue sample tests
Biomarker tests
